Infertility Treatment in Taiwan

The Reproductive Center of Mackay Memorial Hospital opened and provides fertility treatment (including in-vitro fertilization) since 1985. We aim to provide the finest health care services to our patients both through the use of state-of-the-art technology as well as offering the highest patient care.

What is infertility? 

◎Failure to achieve a successful pregnancy after more than 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse.
◎Earlier evaluation and treatment may be warranted based on medical history and physical findings and is warranted after 6 months for women over age 35 years.

Treatment Methods 

◎ In accordance to the Assisted Reproduction Laws in Taiwan, a legal marital status must exist between the recipients of assisted reproduction technology. The husband and wife must present a government issued marriage certificate prior to initiation of treatment.

Introduction of Dr. George Leslie Mackay

Dr. Mackay
Dr. Mackay was born in Canada
and died in Tamsui (1844- 1901).

Dr. George Leslie Mackay was born in Zola Village, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada on March 21, 1844. On March 9, 1872, the Canadian Presbyterian Church commissioned him to go to Taiwan as a medical missionary.

In 1880, Dr. Mackay founded the Mackay Clinic in Tamshui, which was the first Western hospital in the northern part of Taiwan. It was here in the humble surroundings of Tamshui where Dr. Mackay treated many patients, in the mean while proclaiming the gospels of Christ.

They treated patients who suffered from diseases such as malaria, which was a serious disease at that time. Besides treating patients, Dr. Mackay often preached and brought Taiwanese Christians along with his medical and evangelistic tours in northern Taiwan. With the Bible in one hand and forceps in the other, he often defied mountains, rivers and jungles overgrowth to do medical evangelism.

Mackay Memorial Hospital (MMH), established in the 1880s,accredited as medical center by TJCHA, affiliated with Mackay Medical College and Mackay Medicine ,Nursing and Management College .MMH is comprised of one main campus and three branches as a health network through northern, western and eastern of Taiwan with nearly 3,000 beds and more than 7,500 employees, MMH provides full range of medical specialties by the medical teams consisting of specialists from different departments in MMH, aiming to serve patient with integrated and comprehensive care.
